What can I do to stop big events?
- First, sign our pledge. To get the council to listen we need local politicians to see this is an issue that could lose them votes
After that, the best thing you can do is email or write to as many relevant organisations or representatives as possible. If you are emailing you can easily send the same message to everyone in one group email:
- There is a great website here where you can see all the political representatives for your area and contact them direct
- Email your local councillors directly an let them know how you feel. You can find out who your councillor is here
- Email your MP. The threat to green spaces is an issue of national concern. You can find your MPs contact details here
- Put pressure on the Brockwell Park Community Partners, Lambeth's official community consulting partner for Brockwell Park. They deal more with community groups than direct with Park users, but you can still put push them to push Lambeth
- Contact (and join) the Friends of Brockwell Park. The Friends represent Park users and are the most established community group associated with the Park
Are these events confirmed?
Not yet. Lambeth is in consultation with local groups and the community, but it is clear they are looking favourably on at least two large events (45,000 tickets) a year.
We will do our best to update you as soon as we hear more about how far things have progressed.
If you don't want these type of events to happen now is the time to object.

Are you against all events in Brockwell?
No. Events that are proportionate in size, well run and tied to the local community are a positive thing.
We simply feel that the size and frequency of events proposed is unrealistic for the space. We also believe that the primary point of a park, particularly in a densely populated urban area like ours, is to provide a green, tranquil space for local residents. Increasingly parks are being treated by the council as empty real estate that needs to be monetised at the expense of their value to the community.

Who's involved in this site?
- BrockwellStreets.org was started by a small number of concerned locals who are concerned that events in the Park are becoming too large and too frequent, damaging the Park itself and the wider community
- We are not formally linked to any local body or organisation but, because we believe the only way to get things done is to work together, we do share ideas and info with other groups
- Shortly after launching we teamed up with the Facebook Group Brockwell Tranquillity to try to link as many local people together as possible
Are you a political group?
No. We are not connected to any political party. We do not have a political agenda beyond protecting Brockwell Park. If any politician or candidate agrees to back our aims we will publicise it regardless of their party or political leaning (within reason).
